Serving In Trujillo, Peru

A report from Joselo Mercado, Lead Pastor of Iglesia Gracia Soberana in Gaithersburg, on a pre-Covid 19 trip…

I arrived in Trujillo, Peru after a long flight and layover in Lima.  Trujillo is a city of one million people in the north coast of this beautiful country.  I was invited by the CMA church in Trujillo, this denomination is the most influential in Peru and this church has a big presence in the city.

I was able to teach 3 days on the Gospel and Marriage.  People are starving for Gospel truth and by God’s grace I think we were able to serve them.  One of the problems in Peru is that reformed doctrine has been hijacked by a group of churches that only accept people that also accept their liturgy and preferences. So many churches are looking to go deeper in scripture but have some reservations because of the testimony of this other group.

I think more than anything, we were able to give a testimony that going deep in Scripture comes with humility and love for others.  Not sure If there is another chance to go back, but I pray that the seed that was put in the ground will give fruit.
