Training Global Coaches
An update from Mike Seaver, Lead Pastor of Risen Hope Church in Summerville, SC, USA, and member of our US/CAN Church Planting Team;
Our church planters are one of our most important assets we have as a family of churches. Pastoring an existing work is difficult. Beginning a new church is even harder. One way that our US/CAN Church Planting Team has helped church planters the last several years is through having trained and certified SG Coaches meet monthly with our planters. These Coaches have intentional gospel conversations with focused discussions about the planter’s relational, personal, missional, and spiritual life.
In February, Greg Dirnberger and I had the honor of moving our Gospel Coaching Training beyond our borders. We began the training of ten Sovereign Grace pastors who are connected with our Global church plants in Belarus, Brazil, Croatia, India, Italy, Nepal, and Thailand.
The training consists of three days of sessions that help these future coaches absorb the coaching material and methods, but then also give them practical experience through coaching one another. After the initial training, each guy has monthly Tri-hort calls where he coaches, gets coached, and observes others who are coaching.
We are excited to serve our Global Church Planters in this way and we are grateful for Dave Taylor and Rich Richardson for having the heart and vision for this training. Please pray for our Global Church Planters and that these coaches would be as valuable in other countries has they have been in the United States.
